They all pair beautifully with mint, so this refreshing gin cocktail can be made with any citrus juice. If gin isn’t your spirit, use vodka.
Ingredients
4 fresh mint sprigs, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon simple syrup, or to taste
4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
3 oz gin
1 oz elderflower liqueur
1 oz fresh lime juice
Grapefruit slices, for garnish
Directions
- Combine the mint sprigs and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle the mint just enough to release its aroma. Take care to avoid tearing the leaves into tiny pieces.
- Add the grapefruit juice, gin, elderflower liqueur, lime juice, and a generous handful of ice.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, until well chilled.
- Fill two rocks glasses with fresh ice. Strain the cocktail evenly between the glasses.
- Garnish each drink with a fresh mint sprig and a slice or wedge of grapefruit.
Spritz It
For a lighter, spritz-style cocktail, top each glass with 1 to 2 ounces of chilled club soda after straining. The bubbles brighten the citrus and make it especially refreshing on a warm day.
